The MEA gives oral evidence to the House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee for their inquiry into media literacy, 29th April 2025

Following our written submission to the House of Lords inquiry on media literacy, on Tuesday 29th April, executive board member Claire Pollard, accompanied by MEA Chair, Steve Connolly, gave oral evidence to the House of Lords Communications and Digital Select Committee alongside Caroline Bunting MBE, CEO of Internet Matters, and Jonathan Baggaley, CEO of the PSHE Association.

Attended by the likes of Lord Knight, Lord Macnally and the Lord Bishop of Leeds, Claire did an absolutely brilliant job of representing our views on and the importance of media education and media literacy in the curriculum. You can watch the whole thing on the Parliament Livestream recording here (From the start until 15.33)

We look forward to continuing our engagement with policymakers to ensure that media education is recognised as an entitlement of every young person’s education. As the inquiry progresses, we will keep you updated as to further developments.

Thank you to all our members who have supported this work so far.

For further information about the inquiry see here.

Our written submission will be available on the website when the inquiry has concluded.
